TAVISTOCK Bus Station in Plymouth Road will be closed to all buses for approximately one week later this month.

The station will be closed from next Monday, January 27, when contractors will move in to carry out essential work.

Temporary bus stops will be set up along Plymouth Road ? one outside the bus station and the other, across the road, in front of the Quay. Layovers will be accommodated in the coach parking area in Bedford Car Park.

Essential work needs to be carried out on a gulley that runs across the site ? owned by West Devon Borough Council ? and can only be completed if the area is sealed off.

The council stresses the bus station kiosk will remain open throughout the duration of the works.

A council spokesperson said: ?The work is absolutely vital at the bus station and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.?

Bus companies, the police and the highway authority have all been informed of the closure.
