A West Devon man and friends are to undertake a charity bike ride across Thailand, while simultaneously filming a documentary about the expedition.

The aim is to generate awareness and donations for an orphanage, Dream House, and for child trafficking, which is rife in the area.

Mat Martin, of Tavistock, is a recent graduate of film production technology, and on a trip to Thailand between his degree he visited the Dream House orphanage and described the experience as 'having a lasting impact on me'.

Dream House protects children from potential kidnappers, while also providing a home, and it teaches and develops the orphans, thereby promising them a hope of a better future.

The team plan to cycle 1,000 km through Thailand, and will stop by the orphanage along the way. They will film the entire trip, as well as the stay, in order to create the documentary about the area, and the children.

Mat has currently reached around £400 in donations and there are more than 1,000 likes on their Facebook page. They have also garnered interest from various companies in Thailand, the UK and the USA.
