A LARGE audience gathered at Bere Ferrers Social Club on Friday, January 29 to hear Olympic equestrian competitor Mary King talk about the thrills and spills of competing.
The British Olympic equestrian sportswoman represented Great Britain in six Olympics from 1992 to 2012, winning two silver medals and one bronze.
More than 90 people attended the talk, organised by resident Margaret Ball, and the evening was deemed a huge success raising money for local charities.
Profits from the event were split between Devon Air Ambulance, which was given £200, Bere Horse Watch, £280 and Spooners Pony Club, which was also given £280.
Margaret expressed thanks to everyone who attended and helped to raise the funds.
