OLD mobile phones, iPods and TVs are some of the items being requested by King's Community Church in Tavistock to help its Great Lakes Africa Mission.

The church is appealing to people who have received new items for Christmas and are due to discard their older models. These can be sold in Uganda to help fund projects.

The Africa mission now cares for 400 orphans in Kenya and Uganda and supports schools in Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya. It has set up a charity to provide for six hospitals it has established.

The aim now is to build a new hospital to provide diagnostic and surgical help for three million people, but donations are needed. They can include camcorders, digital cameras and projectors. Anyone who can help can contact Colin Bond on 01822 616625.
