PEOPLE in West Devon with spare or unwanted computers, software, cables, parts and mobile phones are being asked to consider donating their unwanted goods to a computer recycling shop in Tavistock.

Tavistock Recycled Computers and Training Ltd is appealing for the donations, as the shop can raise funds from them to allow staff to provide one-to-one training and free advice and support to local people.

Staff at the shop can dismantle any computer and use it as parts.

Janet Mashford, from Tavistock Recycled Computers and Training Ltd, said: 'Many people worry about data left on hard drives. If they donate a computer to us, we guarantee that the hard drive is dismantled or if reused, that data is wiped.

'The main reason for our existence is to enable and advise local people. To provide this service we need to raise a minimum of £125 per week just to cover the overhead cost. This may not seem a lot of money, but it takes a lot of hard work by our volunteer staff. '

Anyone who would like to donate can do so by visiting the shop between 10am and 3pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays, or contact 01822 612292 or 01822 618865.
