Bude RFC U11s 10
Okehampton U11s 54
THE young Okes travelled to Bude with only 11 players, two of which having never played competitive rugby before.
Despite a waterlogged pitch the boys produced some great running rugby to dominate the full strength opposition throughout the entire game. From the outset Daniel Thorne, Liam Pyle and Joe Mawle combined to set up the first try for Jack Raymond who drove over from a tap penalty, converted by Daniel Thorne. A strong run from Liam Pyle set up Daniel Thorne to score a further try converted by Liam Pyle.
Weak tackling let Bude back into the game with an unconverted try. Okehampton responded straight away with Jack Raymond linking with Joe Mawle who drove strongly to set up Daniel Thorne who drove over to score his second try. Good tackling kept the pressure on which lead to a turnover and Jack Dickinson scored his first try for the team, which was converted by Liam Pyle. Liam then took an excellent catch from the kick off and passed to Joe Mawle, who covered half the pitch to link with Jack Raymond who drove over for his second; this was converted by Daniel Thorne. Liam Pyle caught the kick again and ran through to score a cracking try, converted by himself.
Bude replied with an unconverted try. Okes forwards drove back up the pitch for Joe Mawle to rip the ball from a maul and drive over to score, converted by Daniel Thorne. Liam Pyle then scored again, converted by himself to round off an excellent performance. Special mention must go to hooker Paul Roberts and wing Jordan Drew who showed up well in their first game for the club.
