OKEHAMPTON Men?s Hockey Club 1st XI and local rivals Tavistock squared up to each other in a league clash at Okehampton College on Saturday.
Both teams started well but it was Okehampton who scored first blood when Colin Lethbridge struck to beat goalkeeper Bradley.
This helped Okehampton to raise their game to increase pressure on the Tavistock goal. It was rewarded when man of the match Tim Morgan cracked home a scorcher to put Okehampton two up.
Tavistock were never out of the game and before half-time were able to force a penalty when Nick Aveyard stepped up to slot past Okehampton goalie Nic Kearley.
The second half saw two evenly matched teams battle for the game and despite a final 15 minutes of hard pressure from Tavistock Okehampton came away winners.
