OKEHAMPTON’S Christmas lights were bright and beautiful for last week’s Edwardian Evening.
The town’s shops stayed open late for the event, which saw people singing carols in the high street, some of Father Christmas’ reindeer pay a visit to Red Lion Yard, stalls in the street, and the town filled with the smell of roasting chestnuts and a hog roast.
Town Mayor Cllr Jan Goffey thanked Okehampton Chamber of Trade, Okehampton Round Table and all the voluntary organisations who helped to make the event a success.
She said: ‘These events are part of our town calendar and it is lovely to see so many people coming into town to enjoy them.
‘Without all of Okehampton’s voluntary organisations and their members giving their time to organise, set up and clear away, they just wouldn’t happen.’
