OKEHAMPTON Argyle FC held their presentation evening at the Fingle Glen Hotel. It had been a mixed season for the club.
The first team had started off well in division one East of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League, but lost two key players to other clubs during the season and also had to cope with an abnormally large number of injuries. They ultimately finished in 14th spot of the 17 teams in the division.
The second XI however had a fine season winning promotion for the second year running and also winning the Football Express Cup. Not to be outdone, the thirds also won promotion for the second year in a row and both teams finished in runners-up spot in their respective divisions.
The ladies team, in only their second season, finished mid-table in division two of the Devon Women's League, having challenged for a promotion place for much of the year.
The club also won the second best ground award in division one East of the South West Peninsula League, following on their win in this competition the previous year.
After an excellent meal, the following awards were presented by secretary Charlie Bond and the team managers:
• AWARDS: Clubperson of the year, Sarah Chammings; golden boot, Darren Prouse; the Michael Drew trophy, Stuart Entwhistle. Ladies team: manager's player, Abby Williams; players' player, Jo Dickson; most improved player, Kelly Cann. First XI: manager's player, Ed Squire; players' player, Steve Kinsey; second XI, manager's player, Paul Yip; players' player, Ricky Wooldridge. Third XI: manager's player, Shane Monnox; players' player, Shane Monnox.
