MEMBERS of the 2443 Squadron Air Training Corps recently competed in an annual Air Cadet competition at the Okehampton Camp.
The competition, known as the Caiels Trophy, is named after a former Wing Commander and is open to all Air Training Corps Squadrons within the Plymouth and Cornwall Wing.
The competition consisted of numerous activities such as aircraft recognition, drill, banner drill, leadership, first aid, micro navigation, map exercise, fieldcraft, production of a flying model and shooting.
Last year, the squadron managed fifth position and through hard work, perseverance and a concerted team effort, the team have managed to move up the rankings to fourth position, this out of a total field of 21 squadrons and despite the fact that the team was two cadets short due to circumstances beyond their control.
The overall result included a first place in fieldcraft and a second place in shooting.
