THE ladies? league team from Okehampton Golf Club played thier final game of the season away at Dartmouth Golf and Country Club. It was an enjoyable day for the team as they have already qualified for the finals which will be played at Ilfracombe on September 28. Lyn Hazelton gave the team a good start with a 3-1 win. Rachel Spry, Lin Atkinson, Kath Mansell and Mary Keir all went to the 18th but unfortunately lost, Jane Warren then won her match, one up. Team captain Kay King also won giving the team an 8-6 loss. On Wednesday the ladies played a qualifying Stableford, in rather showery conditions, making the scoring difficult. Cherry James won the silver division with 33 points with Pam Jarman second with 30. The bronze division was won by Mary Keir on 30 and Doris Jewell was second with 24. The President?s Day was a threeball two to count Stableford. The winning team of Sam Hurdwell, Rob Simpson and Martin Aggett sored an excellent 85points; second were Bob Jones, Dave Bickle and Steve Hill with 81; third were Andrew Clark, Kevin Cornwall and Steve Cook,78; fourth were Martin Cox, Matt Soby and Malcolm Hill on 77; fifth were Lee Pengelly, Dave Woolridge and Dave Cobby (last nine) also 77; sixth Graham Moysey, Chris Ball and Del Owen on 75 and seventh were Colin Cornwall, Chris Hurley & Dave Harwood on 74. The senior section has done well recently. Several seniors went to Teignmouth to play for the Veterans? Salver. Jon Leonard and Jim Butcher scored 44 points and Roger Slee and David Keir had 43 giving them the winning score of 87. This is the first time that Okehampton has won this salver. Last Thursday members played in Holsworthy Vets Open and though the team prize eluded them Stuart Lewis won the individual prize with 41 points.
