Oke Ladies 4
Plym Valley ladies first 3
FOR the first five minutes of this hard fought game Okehampton ladies appeared to be under fire from Plym Valley who made a number of attacking runs.
Within ten minutes though Oke forward, Jo Moppet put the home side in the lead. However Plym Valley equalised within minutes and it became anyones game.
Right back Debbie Pritchard, pushed right up the pitch and made an opportunity for Okes strikers to get the ball into the back of the net but it was thwarted at the last second.
After Plym Valley missed two chances to score, Amanda Sim passed the ball to Jo Moppet, who scored her second goal by lifting the ball into the top of the net. Jo then went onto score a third goal by hitting a blinder from the top of the D.
Oke goalie Sophie Whitely then made a great save and Oke ladies ended the first half with yet another goal from Jo Moppett to make it 4-1.
The second half started with a strong attack by Oke was countered with a strong attack from Plym Valley. A penalty corner was awarded to Plym Valley which they converted to make the score 4-2 and scored another, again from a penalty corner, to make it 4-3.
The remainder of the game was a battle with both teams having chances and working really hard, especially midfielders Joey Drake and Alex Collins and central defenders Carol Taylor and Jane Jones. Kim Davey played in her determined manner up the right wing while Viv Wetherington pushed right up and had a shot on goal which only just went wide.

Okehampton seconds ladies 3
Tavistock seconds ladies 6
THE Tavistock side was skilful and strong but unfortunately they did not have a goalkeeper. Spectator Nick Luxton, an Oke mens first team player, kindly offered to take the keepers position for Tavistock and proved to be a great asset preventing many Oke scoring chances.
It was Tavistock who took the lead with Laura Armstrong scoring the first goal in open play.
Tavistock's second goal soon followed when Sarah McClumpoe wrong footed the Oke goalie to claim her goal.
Oke began gelling together as a team under the guidance of captain Sophie Whiteley. Midfield players Amanda Sim and Jill Williams worked tirelessly, winning the ball and creating chances for the Oke forwards. Okes hard work was rewarded when Grace Thorp cracked the ball into the back of the net from a penalty corner.
Tavistock began the second half in dominant style, slickly passing the ball around the pitch leading to Judy Lowton putting pressure on the Oke defence and slotting the ball into the goal. This was followed by another goal from Sarah McClumphoe.
Oke showed great resilience and determination. Youngsters Katie Adams and Meg Higgs fought hard in defence and newcomer Maria Jones had a strong game on the right wing. Centre forward Grace Thorp was posing problems for the Tavistock defence and scored her second goal of the game with a well-struck ball from the edge of the circle.
The play moved rapidly from end-to-end – Tavistock's Claire Mason scored their fifth goal when she connected with a strong crossed ball to deflect it into the net. Tavistock's final goal was scored by Becky Martin.
Again Oke fought back pressurising the Tavistock defenders but it was youngster Willemijn Rademaker who cleverly scored Oke's final goal.
