Torbay A 4
Okehampton 4
OKEHAMPTON hoc key team made a sluggish start and the hosts passed it around without really looking that threatening, although did hit the bar with a tremendous drag flick from their first short corner.
The home side took the lead when Oke lost possession on the half way line and failed to clear their lines on a couple of occasions, a simple tap in making them pay.
The away side rallied though and started to pass the ball around nicely and got a deserved equaliser just before half time when Martin Jones found Mark Parsons who slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
The second half continued as the first had finished with an end to end open flowing game. The hosts extended their lead when Okehampton failed to mark their players and left goalkeeper Andy Harvey exposed. Parsons then squeezed another goal past the keeper and defender to pull the visitors level again. Torbay regained the lead again with a good finish before debutant Josh Balsdon got his first goal for the first team with a good composed finish.
The hosts looked threatening but Luke Liversidge made some vital tackles and man of the match Martin Jones, Joff Stephens and Rob Hall kept the team runnng; Lewis Day making his debut too also played superby well.
Both teams continued to attack and Oke missed two glorious chances through Chris Luxton and Balsdon before Parsons hit the bar with a thunderous reverse stick.
At the other end the hosts hit the post and put a reverse stick over the bar before taking the lead for the fourth time. The away side started to show their fitness and continued to control the game but could not break down the hosts defence.
Then with the last play the visitors won a short corner and Parsons smashed home to get the draw they at least deserved.
