A LYDFORD man celebrated his 70th birthday recently by tucking into a giant pasty
Bill Williams, a retired Royal Navy physical training instructor, enjoys making pasties and so his friends felt it would be appropriate to make him one as a lunchtime birthday treat.
Mr Sharples said he decided to make a pasty for Cornish-born Bill, because he always insisted a traditional Cornish pasty was tastier than those made anywhere else.
Mr Sharples said Bill enjoyed his birthday pasty very much, but did not keep it all for himself.
'He took it home and shared it with all the family, it was wonderful,' said Mr Sharples.
Bill's son-in-law, Johnie Friend said: 'He had a great 70th birthday, and enjoyed the pasty very much.'
