A LONG-SERVING prison officer from Tavistock retired last Friday after 34 years in the prison service.
Before arriving at Dartmoor Prison, senior prison officer Dave Askew served at Exeter and Leyhill prisons.
Prison staff and friends gave Mr Askew a farewell send-off at the Prince of Wales in Princetown, where he was presented with several gifts including a water fountain. The presentation was made by Works Governor Tony Early.
Mr Askew is looking forward to enjoying his hobbies of walking and playing snooker in his retirement, and has a long holiday planned in the autumn.
