JOIN the Tamar Community Trust later this month for a special archaeology and access volunteering day at Wacker Quay in Cornwall. Find out about the history of this fascinating military site on Saturday, August 16 and then take part in some management work with the trust. As well as routine tasks on the Wacker to Antony Trail, you can join in with clearance work to find out more about two features related to the railway and increase your knowledge of its history. Organised by the Helping Hands for Heritage project, the day will also reveal more about the sensitivities of managing archaeology and the significance of the heritage at Wacker Quay. All tools, materials, a picnic lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please bring good footwear, gloves and be prepared for the weather. The day will run from 10.30am to 4pm. Booking is essential so contact the Tamar Valley AONB team to let them know whether you are interested in joining for all or just part of the day, or for more information call 07792 483669, [email protected]">[email protected] (Dave readman, Tamar Community Trust) or 01822 835030 or [email protected]">[email protected] (Tamar Valley AONB team).
