AN occupational therapist, who works in Tavistock, was selected as one of only six finalists in a nationwide search for the Stannah Stairlifts Occupational Therapist of the Year. Fie Johnson, was quizzed by a panel of judges, led by consumer investigator and children?s rights campaigner, Esther Rantzen. Following the judging, all six finalists were invited to a prestigious prize giving attended by Princess Anne, patron of the College of Occupational Therapists. While Fie did not win the overall title, Princess Anne spent several minutes talking to her about her passion for her job and the genuine difference it makes to her clients. Fie was nominated by one of her patients Jackie Sargeant for the assistance and support she has provided in helping Jackie and a number of other patients set up the Make a Difference café for mental health patients in recovery. Fie?s unstinting work and support has been invaluable to Jackie, who over the last year has made remarkable steps towards leading a more active and rewarding life to also help others.
