SIXTEEN new houses could be built on the site of demolished buildings in Princetown.
An application is being considered by Dartmoor National Park Authority for the erection of three and four-bedroomed houses on the site of buildings in Woodville Avenue which were torn down some years ago.
The authority says it has no objections to the scheme which has been amended slightly since an original application last September. The application has also been passed by Duchy of Cornwall officers and the Prince of Wales' architectural advisor.
But Dartmoor Preservation Association is objecting to the type of houses being proposed at Woodville Avenue.
The association thinks they will be purchased by commuters or second-home owners, adding to traffic on routes to and from Princetown.
The DPA feels any additional building in the village should be affordable housing for local people, particularly the young and old.
A decision is expected at the Park's Authority planning meeting tomorrow (Friday).
