A BUCKLAND Monachorum woman has been awarded the OBE for her work with vulnerable members of society in the Plymouth area.

Jane Guy was formerly a training manager with the Citizens Advice Bureau in Plymouth but has done a lot of voluntary work with different charities including MIND, the mental health charity and Plymouth Age Concern.

She was chairman of MIND for three years, vice-chairman of Age Concern and is the current chairman of the CAB in the city.

'My main base has been at the CAB where I have been involved in bringing together a range of organisations for the greater good of the whole community,' she said.

Mrs Guy has worked hard to get people back to work and organised conferences on fuel poverty, debt and mental health issues.

She said it was a lovely surprise to be told she was getting the OBE but added 'I am not sure I have done any more than anyone else.'
