MAY I, through your pages, write to thank all those people who either took part in, or supported the Tavistock and District Mencap Raft Race on July 20.
In particular my special thanks to Morwellham Quay for the start venue and also Walrus Marine for kindly supporting us with their safety boats.
The race was a great success and it is hoped that eventually we will have raised more than £1,500. Other charities have also benefited and I hope that this will continue.
It was all tremendous fun and next year?s event is already being planned. I hope that it will attract even more entries than the 26 we had this year. How about helping us to reach 50?
When I have the date finalised we will contact all this year?s entrants again. In the meantime please consider entering a raft yourself and encourage others to do so.
Again, many thanks to all.

MAY I, through your paper, express my grateful thanks to all who contributed towards the £939.80 collected for the Army Benevolent Fund on Friday, August 8; the very generous givers, the willing and cheerful helpers and, not least, your newspaper for its support.
With your help and that of like minded supporters in the country, the Army Benevolent Fund is able to alleviate distress in the ex-army population to the tune of some £7.5-million each year.
