Tavistock 9

Plymouth A 0

TAVISTOCK men's hockey team started the second half of the league season in a positive frame of mind. With Joe Hess playing his first game after a prolonged injury, the forwards linked well and created numerous chances.

Fifteen minutes into the game Tavistock capitalised on a great linking move between Lovett and Hess resulting in a simple tap-in.

Jefferys created many opportunities and continued to stretch the ever-pressured Plymouth defence. With a half-time score of 3-0 Tavistock decided to shuffle the attack and within two minutes of the restart Nick Andrews scored a further two goals and within ten minutes had his hat-trick.

Tavistock began to move the ball around at leisure and with the midfield controlling the play more goals were inevitable.

A good performance and a useful goal tally maintains Tavistock's position in the league and a trip to Bodmin beckons this week where they hope to continue the winning form.

Tavistock 2nd XI 2

PGSOB C XI 0

TAVISTOCK Seconds hockey team's first home game of the year was played in near perfect conditions and resulted in a well deserved win.

With several of the familiar faces absent there was a welcome return for Jackson on the wing but unfortunately he sustained an injury which resulted in his substitution after ten minutes.

Tavistock controlled the first half with almost total possession, Cheffey and Rowe dominant in the opposition half. Young played the unusual position of left back but was able to control the middle of the pitch filtering passes to the halfs and the wings.

Jones played well on the right wing making a series of strong runs and crosses. Rowe was the closest to scoring with his shot hitting the post.

In the second half Tavistock continued to play tight controlled hockey with Coolley distributing the ball well to Greenaway and McKintosh in attack.

The first goal was a well struck shot from Cheffey. Moyse and the defence controlled the PGSOB's counter attacks without any undue problems.

Tavistock finished the afternoon off with a well taken lat minute goal from McKintosh to reflect a fair scoreline for the team's efforts.

The result takes Tavistock to third in the league with an important home game this Saturday against league leaders Liskeard.
