TALENTED pupils from Mount House School on the last day of term enjoyed the inter-set music competition finals. Following the Saltash Music Festival earlier in the term, this competition was the subject of eager anticipation by the children, their parents and the teachers. The adjudicator for the event was David Gorodi, assistant director of music from King's School Bruton, whose comments on the performances were designed to help the children's musical performances. The Angus McBride Trophy for the best junior musician went to Eleanor Hayward. She played Rondino by Rameau in the pianists' competition and also played the violin in the strings section. Yume Fujita won the Woodstock Trophy for the best senior musician, performing a Chopin piece in the pianists' section and also playing the Xylophone in the percussion competition. The best novice musician was Eliza Sale, who played 'The Cuckoo' on the piano in the Up to Grade 1 section. The winning set this year was Otters, with Hawks and Owls joint second only a half a point behind, and Kangs in fourth place.
