TAVISTOCK Squash Team expected to win this clash against Kingsbridge. Mike Gray for Tavistock?s match against Martin Joyce was the most evenly contested, with Mike taking the first game 9-1. Martin won the second 9-5 and the third 9-2. Mike?s competitive nature brought him back into the game in the fourth which he won to square the match 2 games all. The final game was decided by three excellent drives from Mike Gray to win the tie for Tavistock 3 games to 2. Next was Stuart Cox of Tavistock playing at number 4 against Malcolm Squire. Stuart lost it 3-0. Colin Grice of Tavistock played Darrel Day. Colin won the match 3 games to 1. Next up was Andy Gauler at No2 against Anthony Jones. Anthony, a talented squash player, went down 2 games to 0. The fourth and fifth games saw Andy battle his way back to square the match 2 games all. Anthony settled down in the fifth and won comfortably 9-0 to take the match 3-2 and level the ties 2 all. Finally it was down to Jim Massey of Tavistock against Steve Gledhill. Jim scored a number of early points to take a lead. However Steve came back to win the first 10-9. Following this Jim struggled to get back into the game and lost the 2nd and 3rd games and the tie 3-0. Tavistock were beaten by Kingsbridge by 3 ties to 2.
