ONCE again consistency is a major concern, after putting a good performance last week, against a very good Saltash side, the Lambs disappointed with a lack lustre performance against Liskeard.
The Lambs started well and could have taken an early lead, when Martin Sullivan had only the goalkeeper to beat but his shot from 12 yards went wide of the post. Dave Hallett then raced clear but his shot was deflected for a corner.
After missing these two good opportunities the visitors grew in confidence, and as the half proceeded began to get the upper hand.
In the 33rd minute they opened their account when Joe Knight pulled a ball back from the dead ball line for Demetri Kanakh to tap home from eight yards.
In the 40th minute Kanakh scored his second, when the forward headed home from a Shane Jewell cross to leave the home side with a mountain to climb in the second half.
The second half started much the same as the first and it was the visitors that were showing the enthusiasm, and energy, working for each other, whilst the home team looked lethargic. Liskeard made certain of the points in the 65th minute, when the usually dependable Jamie Ahern made a mistake, when the ball was played into the box by Joe Carey, and Joe Knight made the most of the centre back's error to lob the ball over the stranded Andy Meeds.
It was only in the last quarter of the game that the Lambs started to show any attacking prowess.
The introduction of substitutes Ashley Menhenick, and Chris Head, gave the side some pace and he started to cause the visitors defence some problems.
Chris Head a great chance in the 73rd minute to reduce the arrears but he shot over when well placed. Ryan Fice then went close, but the Lambs never really got anywhere near the levels of performance shown the previous week, and the game ended with a humiliating defeat to a good workman-like side.
Club chairman Derek Pethick said: 'It is clear to see that confidence is low in the team, but the only way to overcome this situation is for everyone to knuckle down, and show grit, and determination. One lesson must be learnt from this defeat, the Lambs must show the same enthusiasm as visitors Liskeard showed what can be achieved if everyone works hard as individuals and as a unit.
The ability is in the side but they have to work mush harder for each other, and have a positive mind thought and belief.'
