COMMUNITY volunteers, green champions and unsung heroes are being sought as nominations open for this year's West Devon Borough Council mayoral awards.
The awards are held annually to recognise people who have done something particularly noteworthy within the borough or who have enhanced the reputation of West Devon on the national stage.
Cllr William Cann, mayor of West Devon, said: 'I am really looking forward to reading the nominations and finding out about all the good work and achievements in our borough.
'I'm sure it will not be easy to choose the winners.
'I would appeal to residents to get their thinking caps on and nominate those individuals or groups who help to make people's lives better or those who have achieved something really outstanding.'
The awards fall into three categories – a young person (under 18); an organisation, business or person (over 18); and an individual or group who have made a significant contribution to the conservation and protection of the natural environment of West Devon.
Nominations must be received by February 28.
