Devon & Exeter League Premier Division
Okehampton Argyle 0
Seaton Town 2
THIS latest defeat for Argyle drops them dangerously close to the relegation zone, and it has been the home results that have let them down most.
Although the injury list continues to rise, there are still enough experienced players in the side to get them out of trouble, but to do so they have to start playing as a team instead of individuals.
Early play was fairly even, with neither keeper tested, but on 20 minutes a slice of luck came Seaton's way, when an Argyle clearance hit another defender and dropped kindly in front of Shane Scott, who only had to side-foot the ball into an empty net.
Further pressure came from Seaton, and only a couple of outstanding saves from Neil Clift kept the scoreline down.
The only chance for Argyle fell to Robbie Sandercock, who after a solo run sliced his shot wide when well placed.
Argyle stepped up the pace early in the second half, with good efforts from Steve Hackett and Steve Williams, but were still unable to break down a stubborn defence.
With Argyle pushing for the equaliser and time running out, the inevitable happened — a breakaway two minutes from time by George Moore saw him race clear of a static defence and slot the ball past Clift to ensure Seaton the three points.
This week Argyle are away to Exeter Civil Service in a re-arranged fixture. Leave all-weather pitch at 1.15pm.
