Devon Ladies Cup
Plainmoor 4
Tavistock Ladies 5
LAST Sunday brought the two teams together for the first round when an 'edge of the seat' game pushed both sides to a nail-biting finish.
Central defender Tina Parker was injured in the first quarter, leaving Tavistock temporarily with ten players, leading to a score of 3-1 to Plainmoor at half-time.
The pace picked up in the second half with Clarice Payne soon scoring her second goal. A goal from Holly Kroetke evened the score to 3-3, but driven by pure euphoria Kroetke soon placed her second ball past Plainmoor's goalie.
Plainmoor evened the score and it looked as though the Ladies were going to have to endure a further 30 minutes' play and possible penalty shoot-out, when Sarah Blowey managed to score the fifth winning goal in the final minutes. A truly phenomenal game, whereby both teams battled hard for the full 90 minutes; credit to last minute stand-in keeper Donna Weeks for an outstanding performance.

THE home team raced into a 1-0 lead. The advantage was short-lived, however, with Tavistock holding a tight defence and playing a stronger game throughout. Their fist goal came from newcomer Kirsty Jones.
The second goal soon followed when Rachel Kelly fed the ball through perfectly for Sarah Blowey to finish. Strong battling from Donna Weeks enabled the second goal from Blowey, and Plainmoor finished the first half taking advantage of their speed to pull away quickly and score a second goal.
Tavistock really worked Plainmoor's goalie in the second half with many near misses. However, the battling paid off and a surge up the pitch finished in Blowey's hat-trick.
Newcomer Robyn Hammond stirred up Plainmoor from the midfield and played in a good ball through to winger Weeks to finish, resulting in an away victory of 5-2 to Tavistock.
