Tavistock U15 girls 0
Exeter Saracens U15 girls 56
TAVISTOCK came down to earth with a bump after beating all comers so far this season. A shortage of Tavistock players allowed Exeter to lend three players to Tavistock.
The two inexperienced players already in the Tavistock team, were joined by an additional three so the result was not unexpected.
Exeter showed no mercy, and scavenged for the ball and rucked and scrummaged hard giving little good possession to Tavistock.
With all their possession and a well drilled set of backs against the uncoordinated inexperienced home team, the points soon piled on the board.
Tavistock should however not be down-hearted, for they showed some solid tackling, and with the limited possession, some powerful running.
All the Tavistock girls played exceptionally well, slowing down the scoring rate as the game went on.
Flo Rodgers and Anabel Longden were ever present tackling hard and running straight, but were always caught by efficient tackling of the Saracens backs.
Until she was taken off due to injury Amy Neave stopped numerous Exeter attacks. Lilly Hilson was in the thick of the play and is now winning ball and getting over the game line.
Kim Upcott together with Kayleigh Gatcom in the front row had a difficult task against stronger and more experienced opposition. But the strength and commitment of Bronwyn Rundle was an inspiration to the rest of the team.
This was a lesson and the team will have learnt from it.
Their next meeting will probably have a different outcome.
