Stoke Gabriel Ladies 3

Tavistock CFC ladies 1

TAVISTOCK ladies gave 100 per cent and had most of the play and played some superb football but again could not find the back of the net.

Captain Katie Glasspoole led by example and covered the pitch tirelessly working the ball upfield. The back four of Maloney, Coker, Glasspoole and Cox were strong in tackles and wingers Bammons and Jones constantly broke through. A superb turn and shot by Becky Gordon for the visitors was superbly saved by the keeper.

Stoke Gabriel's strong midfield players supplied their strikers but Stock in the Tavistock goal pulled off some superb saves; however, it was a quick low pass across the box that beat her and Tavistock went one down.

Turner and Hurley put in some strong challenges midfield and a volley by Hammond saw the keeper pull off another great save. Tavistock went 2-0 down when a high ball flew towards the top of the goal; a parry out by Stock and a rebound off Cox saw the ball end up in the back of the net.

The second half saw a reshuffle and Hammond went back to midfield with an injured Turner going up front. Tavistock started strongly with great one two passing, overlapping runs and the never say die attitude the ladies have.

However, when  Cox attempted to clear the ball from the danger zone she put the ball into the back of the net. All this bad luck did not deter Cox, and time and time again she brought the ball up field and eventually set up

Hammond for a consolation goal .
