MEMBERS of Tavistock Athletic Club have competed in two half marathons.

Mike Erith excelled in the Tewkesbury half marathon by winning his male 60 age group in a time of 1hour 38minutes, 37seconds. The following weekend saw 17 club members amongst nearly 4,500 runners in the Plymouth half marathon. The day was overcast and rain threatened, but held off – ideal running weather.

Jim Cole was first TAC to finish in an excellent 10th place overall, less than seven minutes behind the winning time of 1.05.49 time. Next home was Adam Holland in 20th.

The M55 men excelled, Pete Bazley and David Twine finishing first and second respectively in the age-category, (Pete knocking more than two minutes off his last year's time for the race). Wally Lake finished seventh, and Tony Shearer 13th in the same group.

Despite injury, Rob Moule knocked more than three minutes off his 2010 time, and Ann Woodhouse ran a huge seven minutes faster.
