Wessex Rangers 2

Ordulph FC 0

ORDULPH battled hard and were close to gaining a valuable point against league favourites Wessex Rangers.

The visitors were up against it from the start with several first teamers missing but despite this produced one of their best performances of the season. Ordulph keep the host at bay for the majority of the first half, with Tom Pilbeam only really being tested from distance. Ordulph battled hard against a very good footballing side in Wessex, however were dealt a blow when James Coole, suffered a reaccurance of a previous injury, and was forced off in the first half hour. Ross Sherrell replaced him, missed a great chance to put the visitors ahead volleying wide from close range with his first touch!

Phillpotts saw his drive deflected wide by one of his own players.

The second half was similar although Wessex increased the pressure but Ordulph looked to be able to withstand everything that was thrown at them. Tom Pilbeam was forced into making a spectacular save from a drive from distance and Ashley Pillay cleared the rebound. Ordulph's Paul Hoskin was twice needed to clear off the line.

Wessex broke the deadlock with 15 mins remaining. A sliced clearance from a Wessex player fell to a team mate whose through ball played in their striker — Rob Moloney slipped and the striker clipped the ball inside the near post.

Ordulph continued to work hard but could not get that decisive goal, Phillpotts having a drive from distance was the nearest they came. Wessex scored the winner in stoppage time as the Ordulph were pushing forward. l This week the Ordulph travel to league leaders Old Sutts.
