THE new annual Robin Fenner Memorial Match took place at the Ring in memory of a truly great benefactor of so many things in Tavistock as well as sport.

Robin died four years ago and his wife Sheila presented the trophy to Tavistock captain Stuart Munday, whose side beat Tamar Cavaliers, captained by John Lambert, by 20 runs.

It was a fine afternoon's cricket which saw 470 runs scored on a truly hot afternoon. Tavistock batted first with South African Steve Dembitzer scoring 65, including 14 fours, until retiring. Other scores for Tavistock included Harry Geering and Shaun Cleave both with 33 and a fine 50 not out by James Kaminski.

Tamar Cavaliers had a big total of 246 to chase off of 35 overs and Werrington's Mark Horwell hit a superb 110, including 22 fours. Unfortunately he found no-one to stay with him and was sixth man out.

Bowling honours go to Harry Geering, Steve Dembitzer, Mike Morgan and the evergreen captain, Stuart Munday.
