Truro C 2

Okehampton 1

WITH so much at stake this match was always going to be a tough one for Okehampton — first against third with everything at stake.

The game started at a frantic pace with neither side able to take control, unforced errors occurring all over the pitch.

Truro created the first major chance when Mike Reynolds was unable to do little but concede a penalty flick; the visitors' keeper Andy Harvey easily saved the resulting penalty.

The hosts continued to pressure and Okehampton also looked lively on the counter-attack, and went close on a couple of occasions.

Truro took the lead with a flick into the roof of the net from a short corner and things could have been worse but for a brilliant double goal-line clearance from Reynolds.

Okehampton rallied together and got their reward after some great pressuring; Luke Miller found Mark Parsons, who shot from an acute angle straight into the top corner.

The last ten minutes of the half saw Okehampton finally get a grip on the game and went close through Josh Speak and Simon Bourne — the defence stopping any attacks before they had a chance to begin.

The second half was again scrappy, with no team taking a hold of the game.

The league leaders managed to get a goal with about 20 minutes gone in the second half, which left Okehampton to fight for everything. The game turned when a Truro player and the visitors' right back Will Spry were shown a red card and Reynolds was also shown a yellow in the incident.

With only nine men the away side had their work cut out, but surprisingly looked the more threatening, Nick Luxton going close on a couple of occasions.

This was a disastrous result for Okehampton and not a very fair one, reflecting on the chances and play.

l This week Okehampton are at home to Plymouth University.
