FOLLOWING a 14-0 defeat 48 hours earlier, things looked bleak for the Thistles when they could only muster nine players for this game against the league leaders,
From the first whistle Thistles contested every ball and refused to allow Railway to settle into their usual passing game. The anticipated Railway goal feast did not materialise, thanks to determined defensive work by Shuttler, Walker and Lovering and the impressive stand-in keeper, Alex Dingle.
Despite their increasing frustrations, Railway managed to take a 2-0 lead mid-way throught the first half but a good move between Beckingham and Phillips saw Busuttil go close for Thistles. Following a period of pressure Railway scored a third goal on the stroke of half-time.
The second half saw Railway restricted by the hard working Thistles team, captain Wallace leading by example. Railway failed to find the net and although they lost the match Thistles were praised by the referee and Railway Beacon management for a great team performance.
