SEVEN boats have been competing in Weir Quay Sailing Club's sixth Frostbite race over a triangular course on the River Tamar, adjacent to the club headquarters.

The race was held in light winds and bright sunny conditions. A good start was made by John Tomlinson and Tim Houghton in their Wayfarers 'Final Chance' and 'Woppit' with Nick Malein in a Laser coming from close behind to take the lead and hold on over the four laps to win.

Tim Houghton held on to second place for three laps, losing it to John Tomlinson on the last lap with the two battling to the finish.

Nigel Baxter in GP14 'Pigs Ear' and Ben Houghton in 'Whole Blue' battled it out for three laps in the slow handicap with Alan Seward in National 12 'Legless' sailing along behind under main alone.

Results — fast: Nick Malein, Laser, 1st; Tim Houghton, Wayfarer Woppit, 2nd; John Tomlinson, Wayfarer Final Chance, 3rd.

Slow: Ben Houghton, Whole Blue, 1st.
