THE third Round of the Cornwall and West Devon League held at Newquay saw the home team produce some excellent swimming to win convincingly followed by Plymouth Leander, Tavistock and St Austell.

In the first race, the girls' 5 x 50m free cannon relay, both Alison and Rachael Kelly produced personal best times, as did Ross Mallin and William Crocker in the boys' event.

Christopher Ralph swam the 13/u 50m breast in a personal best time to win first place on the touch. Heather Fell swam an impressive 100m back in the Ladies' Open to take a first and in the men's open 100m fly, Peter Freedman (team captain) saw off the opposition with a strong swim to take first.

Richard Freedman had a determined swim in the 15/u 100m free to take first and Rebecca Mills touched first in the 11 yrs 25m fly. The 13/u 4 x 50m free relay was a close run thing but the team of William Crocker, Will Feather, Sam Broome and Christopher Ralph fought off the opposition to narrowly take first.
