NORTHLEW Horse Show was reborn at a new venue and with a new organisational team last Saturday.

The show had been run for 25 years when show secretary Mrs Stella Hore decided last year to call it a day after half a century, putting the future of the popular annual show in doubt.

However, a team of four ?horsey mums? soon stepped in to take on the running of the show and a new venue at Hillside Farm in Northlew was secured.

Other innovations this year included the first ever dressage class and the show culminated with judges picking a supreme champion for the first time.

Organisers said introducing dressage had proved a great success as they had been ?bombarded with entries?. Entry levels for all the regular classes was also good, with riders coming from across Devon and Cornwall to take part.

One of the most difficult problems the group faced when taking on the show was starting from scratch with no cups. All the cups were given away last year, so the new show committee had to write letters to sponsors to make sure there would be enough cups for all the winners this year.
