A NEW support group in Okehampton is looking for members to help raise money for Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).
The Okehampton Supporter Group, which is chaired by John Barton a current patient at the haematology centre, Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, will hold different fundraising events in and around the town.
Mr Barton said the group welcome anyone who wants to get involved.
He said: 'Over the coming months the group will be spreading the word about ELF and organising a number of events including bucket collections and looking for new homes for ELF collecting boxes.
'In the summer we will be at the Okehampton and Chagford Shows promoting ELF and events planned for the autumn, including a sponsored cycle ride and jazz evening in Hatherleigh.'
ELF supports the work of the haematology centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by providing funds for enhanced patient care, state of the art equipment and research.
Chef executive officer of ELF, Dale Edwards said: 'It is great news that Okehampton has its own supporter group.
'I am confident that the group will grow and act as a platform for friendship and fundraising.'
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24 at 7.30pm at the Plymouth Inn.
Anyone who wants to become a member can phone John Barton on 01837 871263 or the ELF office on 01392 493344.
