A SPECIAL exhibition is all set to go off with a bang next week. On Monday March 10 the Sticklepath Fireshow committee will be hosting an exhibition of its work to help celebrate its up and coming 25th anniversary. The fireshow committee is looking for people to become involved with the Fireshow and help to shape its future. The exhibition will present the perfect opportunity for people to find out what is involved in all areas of the show. Puppets that are used in the show will be on hand, as well as the people who sew, style, create and wear them. Committee members and local helpers will be there to share their experiences and encourage 'new blood' to join the planning of the spectacular event. Jane Jachnik, outgoing chairman of the fireshow committee, said: 'The Fireshow only exists because every year so many people from all over the area volunteer their time to help put on this family event. 'The committee meets regularly from March through to the show in local pubs. 'Enthusiasm plus commitment and a sense of humour are key requirements. 'Most important of all though is to have fun while creating the up and coming spectacular 25th anniversary show.' There are a number of key vacancies on the 2008 committee which included the roles of chairman and wood collection officer. Help is also needed in the areas of build knowledge, committee management, marketing, PR and sponsorship as well as people to support the creative side of the show. Sticklepath Fireshow is an annual community event in West Devon, held on Bonfire Night, that attracts between 2,000 and 3,000 visitors. Since it began in 1984 it has become one of the largest community events held in the South West. In the 25 years since its inception, it has taken on a vast range of subjects from planets to pageants and pagodas to pantomimes. The exhibition will be held at 7.30pm on March 10 at Sticklepath village hall and will be followed by the fireshow annual meeting which starts at 8.30pm.
