A NEW course is offering free advice with job hunting, writing CVs, volunteering and budgeting.

'Job Spot' is provided by Tavistock Sure Start Children's Centre in partnership with Devon Adult and Community Learning.

Drop-in sessions take place at the Abbey Rise project every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Free activities are provided for under-5s.

Tavistock Children's Centre is managed by Barnardo's on behalf of Devon County Council.

Barnardo's children's centre lead Oliver Mackie said: 'We want to provide support to local families who are looking for work, education, training or volunteering opportunities.

'The aim is to increase their chances of finding employment or pursuing other aspirations.

'Experts will be available to run the sessions, which range from writing CVs to learning how to navigate new online job search and benefit systems.

'Working together, we hope to help families to turn their lives around.'

Tavistock Sure Start Children's Centre provides free support and advice to local parents and carers of under 5s.

Activities include parenting programmes, stay-and-play sessions, baby massage and breastfeeding support, as well as support for young parents.

Potential volunteers are always welcomed.
