THE head chef and proprietor of The Horn of Plenty Hotel and Restaurant at Gulworthy near Tavistock, Peter Gorton, has been appointed vice chairman of the Master Chefs of Great Britain, the professional association representing the country's top chefs.

Peter has been a member of the Master Chefs for more than 18 years — members are elected following proposal by at least two referees.

He has served on the steering committee for 10 years and will take on a variety of responsibilities supporting the chairman Gerald Röser.

Peter said: 'I am delighted to have been appointed vice chairman.

'The Master Chefs of Great Britain recently celebrated its silver jubilee and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the role.'
