A BRAND new wooden ship has been installed in a popular play park in Tavistock thanks to the combined hard work of local residents, young fundraisers and town council staff.
Over the past four years lots of new equipment has been installed by Tavistock Town Council’s works department at The Meadows including a zip wire, a new toddler area, trampoline, bins, seating, a new shelter — and now an exciting large wooden ship.
The revamp of the park came after a group of parents calling themselves the Meadows Makeover team came together to fundraise for a zip wire to be installed. The town council also had The Meadows on its work schedule for updating, so the two worked together.
The Meadows Makeover team raised £20,000 in total which has gone towards the park equipment and members of the group have now paid for a disabled friendly roundabout which will be fitted within six weeks.
