aCOMMUNITY association TACRA, based at Tavistock College, has a new man at the helm.
Geraint Heath will now be responsible for letting the college's sports facilities out of hours and managing the fitness suite. Geraint joins TACRA from the University of Plymouth, where he has managed the fitness suite for the last three years.
He also studied at the university, graduating with a degree in human bioscience.
At TACRA, Geraint will be focusing on personal fitness plans for members of the fitness suite and advising on all aspects of fitness and injury prevention.
The TACRA committee structure has been strengthened with representation from West Devon Council, the town council and sports clubs.
Robin Musgrave, TACRA chairman, said: 'The revamped committee is to support a full review of the present operation with the association having a greater profile in the community.
'The current support of the five-a-side soccer leagues will be expanded with plans to develop summer mixed softball and netball leagues.'
Mr Musgrave said TACRA also hopes to develop its holiday club activities for 8 to 14 year olds during the summer holidays.
Open hours at the fitness suite may also be reviewed to include an early morning session.
'A key feature in the new arrangements is a much stronger partnership arrangement with TACRA and the college staff, working together to see best utilisation of all the sports facilities at the college,' said Mr Musgrave.
