ENVIRONMENTAL charity, South West Lakes Trust, recently welcomed its newest member of staff.
Terry Mann, from Tavistock, has been appointed as project officer for the trust?s Green Bridge project, which gives unemployed people the opportunity to learn about countryside management and watersports.
Terry, a former project officer for the Council for Voluntary Services in Exeter, will be based at Roadford Lake Watersports and Angling Centre.
He said: ?One of my key aims is to actively promote the opportunities on offer and encourage people to continue learning.
?I aim to ensure that those who come onto the project will learn more countryside skills and the workings of water sports, and hope that as transportation may be made available, the project will attract people from the more remote areas of Devon.?
Participants in the project will be able to study and gain qualifications in skills such as hedge laying, stone walling, small tractor driving, habitat and wildlife maintenance, footpath access and maintenance, and preservation of archaeological sites.
The learning programme is free of charge and students will have the chance to gain National Vocational Qualifications.
Anyone interested in the Green Bridge project should contact Terry Mann on 01409 211514.
