THE new Kelly College Concert Society season begins on September 14 with a reception at the Melvin Hall, Kelly College, Tavistock. This will introduce the programme for 2005-6 and include a recital by music scholars from the school. There is no admission charge and all are welcome to enjoy the evening and find out more about the forthcoming concerts. On September 28 Mark Bebbington?s piano recital will include Schubert, Chopin and Liszt. Mark last played at Kelly College is 2001 and is acclaimed as ?one of the most perceptive British pianists of his generation?. The well known and very popular violinist Madeleine Mitchell, accompanied by Andrew Ball, will give the concert on October 12; it will include sonatas by Beethoven and Franck. The Phoenix Grove Trio play on November 16. These young players of clarinet, oboe and flute will present an evening of woodwind classics. The flute also features in the first concert of 2006 on January 11, given by Anna Wolstenholme, an outstanding young flautist, accompanied by Alexis White and sponsored by the countess of Munster Musical Trust. Classical music of Georgian London can be enjoyed on February 8, when Concert Royal will perform a programme recapturing the spirit of 18th century music. The season ends with a recital by the Bridge String Quartet, sponsored by the Foster Charitable Trust on March 15. All concerts are on Wednesdays in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College at 7.45pm. Tickets for the season will be available at the reception and at the opening concert. A subscription ticket (£25 or £20 concessions), gives a saving of almost 50% on individual ticket prices (£8 or £6 concessions). Under 18 year olds, accompanied by a ticket holder, are admitted free to all concerts.
