PLANS for a community choir are afoot in Okehampton, offering the chance to belt out everything from songs from the shows to the Beatles and Adele.

John Perry is running some sessions at the Ockment Centre in North Street in May and inviting anyone interested to come along.

The harmony choir, which will meet in the Ockment Centre on North Street on Tuesday evenings, is open to everyone from ten upwards.

Whether you are singing in the bath or a session singer it doesn’t matter,’ said John. ‘You don’t have to make read music either, it makes no odds. It is purely for fun, for people to come along and sing.

‘I’m happy for people to suggest a song for us to try. If it can be done nicely for a choir to sing, I’ll arrange it,’ he said. ‘We want people to come along and see if something is for them. Within two to three weeks, they should know.’
