CHILDREN'S Hospice South West's new shop in Tavistock opened its doors to a record amount of customers last Friday.

The shop, at 11 West Street, was officially opened by CHSW supporters, mayor of West Devon Terry Pearce and master chef and co-owner of the Horn of Plenty Peter Gorton.

The shop is selling a variety of items to help raise funds for CHSW's Precious Lives Appeal to build a new hospice for the region.

Pat Goghill, chairman of CHSW's Tavistock Friends Group, said she was delighted to have the shop on her doorstep.

She said: 'We already have a stand at the pannier market once a month but it's nice for the charity to have a more permanent outlet here in Tavistock too'

Sharon Elliott, regional manager for CHSW, said: 'I would like to say a thank you to the people of Tavistock for their kind support and the goods they have kindly donated.'
