NETBALL in the Okehampton area is going from strength to strength with a special meeting being held next week to help with netball club development needs.
Topics for discussion at the special evening next Thursday (January 22) will include funding opportunities, the CAP accreditation scheme, local coaching workshops, advice on setting up a junior section and coaching and umpire development.
Representatives from Active Sports, OCRA and West Devon Borough Council will be on hand to answer any questions and help in any way with club development needs.
This is very much an informal get together with any teachers or netballers interested in developing their school team or club welcome to attend.
Karen Jones of the Active Devon Sports Partnership is keen to build on the recent success of the Get Active scheme which brought netball coaching into primary schools across West Devon.
The development meeting is being held at Okehampton Rugby Club on Thursday, January 22, from 7.30pm, with tea and coffee.

l FOLLOWING the success of two recent school netball courses, OCRA are keen to set up a netball league for young players.
Okehampton students, pictured above, completed a 10 week netball coaching course before Christmas, organised by OCRA and Active Sports.
Following the success of this course and another taking netball into village primary schools, Stuart Lord of OCRA is in the process of setting up a league for the Okehampton area.
The competition would be divided into two age ranges; a junior high-five league for youngsters in years 5 and 6, and another league for players in years 7, 8 and 9. Teams can be made up by groups of friends or through schools.
Boys are allowed to join in, although each team is limited to a maximum of two boys.
