Bodmin Trophies Duchy League Division Two Queens Rangers 1 Lamerton 2 IF Lamerton were expecting a comfortable game against lowly Queens Rangers they were very much mistaken. The unpredictable bounce made life difficult for both sides and clear chances were few in the first half and the game was fairly even. Kev Swift came closest with a free kick well saved by the home keeper but the half finished goalless. A couple of minutes into the second half Swift found Steve Wickett with a through ball and the striker expertly lobbed the ball into the net. Ten minutes later good work by Swift enabled Paul Cowling to score off the underside of the bar and at last Lamerton began playing good football. Wickett hit the woodwork with a header from a Dave Byworth cross and then volleyed narrowly wide but the home side were not finished. Speculatively chasing a through ball Richard Martyn pounced on a defensive mix up to halve the deficit and Lamerton had a nervy last ten minutes but held on to secure all three points. Man of the match Swift was the only player to come to terms with the playing conditions whilst Will Cann had an excellent game at right back. This Saturday home to Foxhole in the knock out cup second round, kick off 2pm.
