YELVERTON Brownies had the chance to hone their culinary skills during a recent visit to the Royal Naval Cookery School at HMS Raleigh, Torpoint.

The group of 18 budding young chefs enjoyed a mouthwatering afternoon, spending time in the training galleys and watching several cookery demonstrations, including flambe cooking.

Later, the girls received certificates. They also received well-deserved cookery badges from Petty Officer Tim Jessot, an instructor at the school.

Lieutenant Commander Nigel Waters, one of the hosts for the visit, said: ?The day was a huge success with all the Brownies achieving their badges.

?It is a pleasure to be able to help the community.?

HMS Raleigh is the Navy?s new entry and specialist training centre, where all new recruits undergo eight weeks of training before advancing.
